Meal Planning and Staying on Track

I don’t dread Mondays as much as some people do. I usually look forward to getting back to my workouts after a day off on Sunday. This week I’m still pretttttty sore from Saturdays WOD. It was the Hero WOD DT which is: 5 rounds of 12 Deadlifts 155/105 9 Hang Cleans 155/105 6 Push Jerks 155/105 105 is a light deadlift for me, but 105 hang cleans would get tough after a few rounds and 105 push jerks were going to be tough. I did it. And I was SO proud that I was able to do it RX. But man, oh man, did I feel it the next…

    Do What Works for You!

Happy Halloween! We still have classes at CrossFit 70 today and, of course, Payt had to wear her costume. She is Sofia the First. Check her out getting her lift on, haha. //instagram.com/p/gIgkdODInc/embed/ Anyway, I’ve been thinking about food a lot lately. Mainly, my relationship with food. I feel like a lot of time people are so quick to label themselves something “Vegetarian/Paleo/Gluten Free” or whatever. Once you have that label, especially on social media or in blogging, you are scrutinized if you don’t meet other people’s expecations of what that label should look like. For awhile I was pretty strict Paleo. In the beginning of my CrossFit journey it…

    I’m A Real Person

When I started my fitness journey I tried to look for blogs to motivate and inspire me. I, like the rest of the internet, was obsessed with the before and afters. I spent countless hours scouring blogs looking for “the secret” to their success. It seemed like every blog I read was already a success story. They were living their after. And somehow in my mind I thought they were nothing like me. Sure, I read posts about people struggling with a plateau or gaining back a few pounds, but those didn’t stick out to me. It was like all I saw was the photoshopped, edited, perfect happy endings. I’m…

Will CrossFit Help Me Lose Weight?

Why the Scale Isn’t the Best Measure of Progress Note from Courtney (2025): This post was written in 2013 during a season when I was deeply immersed in weight loss and CrossFit. While my perspective has evolved, I now approach wellness with much more softness, self-compassion, and curiosity. I choose to leave this post up because it’s part of my story. I don’t believe in erasing the versions of ourselves who were just trying their best with the tools they had. If you’re here seeking answers, just know: you’re allowed to change. You’re allowed to grow. And you’re still worthy no matter where you are on your journey. As a CrossFit…

    Snap out of it!

Long Weekends = Short Weeks… hallelujah. It also means I never know what day it actually is. Which is how I missed the weigh in wednesday post because it’s actually Thursday now. Good news is tomorrow is Friday already! And you know what is this weekend? Dirty Girl! I have a fun group of ladies from CrossFit teaming up with me to do it. It is going to be a blast and I can’t wait! Since in my head it still feels like Wednesday I’m going to chat a little bit about my progress. I’m in a weird place. Since I’ve been doing Project: Simplify I’ve been going through my…

The Truth About Weight Loss: Extra Skin

Can life just slow down for a minute? A day? Most days we are going non-stop from 5am-8pm. Running two businesses, taking college classes, along with being a parent/wife/friend leaves little to no time for other things. So I may miss a day or two of posting. I used to feel guilty about that… but then I realized that is just pressure I’m putting on myself. I love blogging, I just need to figure out how to make time for it in this season of life. This may mean my posts are scattered throughout the week instead of every weekday morning. I love blogging and the things it has allowed…

    Owning Your Journey

Sometimes I have things planned out to write about. Today was one of those days where I had something totally different scheduled but when I read this post called “of tiny pink dumbbells and fat chicks” I felt inspired to write something totally different. So here we go… when i first started trying to lose weight i thought i could just drop the weight and be done with it. i’d be a before and after. i’d have one of those wildly successful blogs where i shared all my secrets. i’d get to my “goal weight” and then be able to eat whatever i want and live happily ever after. ha.…

Training Update and thoughts on “Goal Weight”

It’s been awhile since I talked about my training, so I thought I’d give you an update on that! It is really hard to organize and recap all my workouts each week since I feel like I’m always doing something. Being a CrossFit Affiliate owner means I’m at the gym on average 6 or so hours a day (at least). I spend a lot of that time coaching, but for those of you who have worked in the fitness world you know that coaching doesn’t mean just sitting there! We are always on the move and demonstrating movements. I work up a sweat just from coaching! We workout at 7am.…

    Addicted To Progress

Don’t forget to enter the Lunitik Athletiks Compression Socks and Strong Confident You Tank giveaways! Yesterday was my check in with my nutrition coach. To be honest, going into the check in I wasn’t feeling all the confident about my progress. I spent a few days in Texas and had a few more cheats than I should have. I also had a pretty stressful week last week with Chris being gone and had a hard time fitting in my 5th meal, which I normally eat in between coaching the 5pm and 6pm classes. Anyway, the good news is I still saw change. I lost 2lbs of fat, but unfortunately I…

    Surprising Myself

This week feels so weird. Maybe because we traveled last week or because the hubs is gone for a few days this week also… I don’t know. Either way, it just feels weird this week. Today is Weigh In Wednesday and while I don’t have much to report in the way of numbers on the scale. After our trip to Texas last week I was actually up 3lbs, but came back down to 186.8 as of this morning. I’ve been around 185-186 for the last few weeks. Even though I know better it will always be a bit disappointing not to see the scale move. It does, however, make me…
