Surround Yourself with the Right People!
This journey is a long one filled with so many ups and downs and twists and turns. One of the things that is SO important is to surround yourself with the right people. My husband has been my number 1 support and cheerleader from the beginning. He has been there every time I tried a new diet or workout. He watched the kiddo while I ran for hours and hours training for a marathon. He pushes me harder than anyone at the gym (he knows how to push my buttons!) – Not to mention all the awesome people at CrossFit 70 that help me be better everyday. But I still…

My Nutrition Plan and Goals (Weigh in Wednesday)
Happy Wednesday, Friends! I’m so glad we’ve made it half way through the work week. This month… heck, this year… is flllllying by. I actually had a fleeting thought of working on Christmas lists. Then I started getting excited because that means January is coming. January is like our summer, it’s when we take our big vacations. 2012 was Disney, 2013 was Costa Rica, and 2014 is our Disney Cruise! Speaking of the cruise – that is one of my HUGE motivation factors for staying on course with my fitness. I’d love to rock a 2 piece confidently on the cruise. Confession… I actually bought a bikini a few weeks…

One Month Nutrition Check In Results (Weigh In Wednesday)
I made it!! I survived my first month on my new nutrition plan! And I am ready for month 2!! To be honest I had no idea what to think when I first started on this new plan. To break it down for you I am basically eating 6ish meals a day, switching between Low Calorie (1600) and High Calorie (2000) days. It’s not just about the calories though, I also have a personalized breakdown of macronutrients (Protein-Fat-Carbs). Please keep in mind that nutrition is SUCH a personal thing. What works for me may not work for you. It really is all about figuring out what works for YOU. And…

That Moment.
Oh, Hey there friends. Sorry it’s been so long. The holiday had me away from the computer, and I didn’t fight it. We had family in town, did fireworks, went to Six Flags, had an awesome CrossFit For Hope Event that I’ll post about tomorrow, and went to the movies to see Lone Ranger (It was good… different, but good!) Anyway, that’s not what I was going to talk to you about today. Today I want to talk about “that moment” You know that moment you’ll probably remember forever. We have a lot of moments like that. From your first kiss, to your engagement/wedding, the birth of your children… and…

Weigh In Wednesday: Seeing Results!
So sorry I missed you all yesterday. Tuesdays are seriously my least favorite day of the week (Right, Mel?) and they are such a whirlwind. Coaching in the morning and evening, working all day in-between, add in a check in with my nutrition coach and homework due at midnight (that I waited until 9:30pm to start) and my day is just shot… Anyway, that day is over… let’s talk about my check in with my nutrition coach! Remember how I told you that my devious awesome husband hid my scale last week? I’d be lying if I said it didn’t bother me. I have weighed myself nearly every day for the…

I’m a Hypocrite
Why does it seem SO easy to give other people great advice and SO hard to take it myself? I’ve been on this journey to health for several years. I’ve had plenty of ups and downs, successes and failures. I’ve been able to share my story openly in hopes of inspiring others. With that (and opening a CrossFit) I’ve found myself giving out all kinds of advice and encouragement. One of the first things I tell my clients new to CrossFit is don’t focus on the scale. Obviously you are going to be building muscle and you don’t need to be discouraged by the number. I know I just talked about…

Find Your Why
I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I remember trying to lose weight in high school because I wanted to fit into a pretty dress for school dances or because I felt the pressure of society telling me I should want to lose weight. Even during my internship after high school I tried to get into running or eating “healthier” because I thought it was what I “should” do. Until Pizza or Oreo night. Let’s be real – sharing a dorm room with 5 other girls it was basically a hormonal food binge all year. The truth is I have always had a great level of confidence. I…

Confused Confessions
I don’t know it all. I’m not a doctor or a nutritionist. I’m just a girl on a journey to lose weight and live my dreams. When I first started blogging I did it to simply share my journey with others and inspire them to find their own journey. I was struggling to find my way on this weight loss journey and I know that if I was, others were too. Then somewhere along the way I started seeing progress, little by little. And for some people it may have seemed like I found the answers. The truth is, I haven’t. I still struggle. It almost seems like the more…

Happy Hydration! EcoJarz Review & Giveaway
It’s Weigh In Wednesday. and I weigh the exact same as I did last week: 190. Which is great, considering my weekend was like a non stop all you can eat buffet. but i’m not letting a no-loss week steal my thunder. I’m focusing on things I can do to make next week different. Like Hydration! When it comes to health and weight loss the one thing we hear constantly is how we should be drinking water. But if we are honest, we usually don’t drink enough water despite the fact that we know we should. I find that I just simply forget. I needed something to help remind/motivate me…

Homemade Coconut Creme Larabars, WIAW & Weigh In Wednesday
Guys. This is freaking brilliant. So, I’ve know that making “lara bars” seemed relatively easy. I liked regular Lara Bars, but it wasn’t until I tried the Coconut Creme ones that I was hooked. I’m pretty sure the only reason I survived my last week of Whole30 was because of those puppies. Thing is, at $1.25ish a piece… I was droppin a lot of dough on these little treats. So I decided to try to recreate them at home… and man oh man, they were spot on! [amd-zlrecipe-recipe:5] I did a ton of food prep on Sunday so that we would be well prepared for the week. Since feeling confused…
