    lately.

Hello Strangers! I swear it feels like I am always thinking about new blog posts to start and then I sit down to start them and I get distracted by reading other peoples blogs…. lose myself in the black hole known as pinterest…. remember that I have a few chapters of school books to read…. hear the dryer go off and think I should fold clothes….. found myself lost in pinterest again…. get distracted watching Payton watch Cinderella…. remember I wanted to make coffee…. think I should put away the dishes…. well, I’m sure you get the idea (and yes that all just happened in the last 2 minutes). But…

    18 Months

Happy Half Birthday to my little girl! I can hardly believe it has been a year and a half since she came into this world. It has been quite the adventure, to say the least. Just in these last few months I’ve been so impressed with how much she has grown up. She loves learning new words and is always asking “Whats that?” (except it sounds more like “wuuusssstthhhhaaaa?”) She loves to help mommy cook, sing, dance and play with her dogs. She loves to try to copy everything we say and do. She has started saying Have a Good Day (which mostly sounds like “Hab uh ood day”). Not…

    little sponge.

sometimes i just am so blown away at how much my not-so-baby can soak up. she is so hungry for knowledge and ever since learning the phrase “whats that?” asks it all the time. Each time we tell her she seems to sit for a minute and stare as if committing the information to memory. she is a stellar listener, even when you can tell she doesn’t want to listen. sometimes i catch a little flair of mischief in her eyes and have to suppress my laughter because I know I have that same spark in mine. It can be intimidating at times seeing yourself reflected in this oh-so-impressionable little…

    The Story of Us.

📝 Editor’s Note (2025):This is the part where love felt urgent.Where we told ourselves forever couldn’t waitbecause the ache of distance was too much to bear. But hidden in all that devotionwas a truth I couldn’t name yet:it wasn’t just love rushing us forward—it was pressure. He said, “We just need to elope or break up.”And I called it passion. But now, I can see it for what it was:a red flag waving in the windof something I didn’t know how to question. We didn’t get married because we were too in love to wait.We got married because we had to.Because he worked for a ministrythat wouldn’t let him live with a woman unless…

The Story Of Us- Part 5

📝 Editor’s Note (2025):We weren’t technically engaged. But I had already bought the dress. That pretty much says it all, doesn’t it?This post was written from a place of total certainty.I believed we were living out a love storyetched in divine timing and dreamy goodbyes. We had counted the miles and the months, rushed toward each other with breathless hope, and stood on beaches and in airportsscripting the rest of our lives with shaky hands and full hearts. And when he said forever,I believed him.We were young. We were in love. And I thought that was enough. He did become my husband. We made it to the altar. We made it through a few more airports. But eventually, he walked away.Again.This time,…

The Story of Us- Part 4

📝 Editor’s Note (2025):This one’s tender.Grief was cracking through the edges of my world, and somehow—love showed up in the middle of it.I look back on this part of the story with so much softness.I was vulnerable, in transition, trying to anchor myself in something steady. And there he was—saying all the right things, showing up like the answer to every quiet prayerI didn’t know I was still whispering. He said he’d protect my heart. That whether as a friend, boyfriend, or husband,he’d always handle it with care. And I believed him. With everything in me, I believed him.He would become my husband. For a time, it felt like something holy.Like a promise fulfilled. But the truth is—he left. The man…

The Story of Us- Part 3

📝 Editor’s Note (2025):This is the part where it all began—not just a love story, but a surrender.I was soft with hope and still sore from heartbreak, and then he showed up:funny, attentive, safe.He saw me in a way no one else had.And I believed him when he said my heart was a treasure.I wanted to believe in that kind of love.I wrote this post in the early days of marriage—one I believed was meant.Divinely orchestrated.Redemptive.But that’s not how the story ends.He didn’t protect my heart. He left. And I was left holding the wreckageof a love I thought had been written by God’s own hand.I’ve chosen to leave these words herenot because the…

The Story of Us- Part 2

📝 Editor’s Note (2025):This was the spark. The moment his eyes met mineand something in me said, maybe this is it.I wrote this remembering how it all began—with worship songs, stage lights, and a boy whose gaze felt like prophecy. At the time, I believed in divine appointments. In doors flung open by prayer. In chemistry wrapped in calling. We laughed. We locked eyes. And somewhere between the air guitar and the altar,I started writing a story in my headthat I’d spend years trying to make come true.He would become my husband. For a while, it looked like answered prayer. But that story, too, unraveled.Spoiler alert: He left. Not the boy who saw me from across the arena—but the one…

The Story of Us- Part 1

📝 Editor’s Note (2025):I wrote this with a tender kind of hope —the kind that sees heartbreak as holy,as part of God’s refining fire.At the time, I truly believed this ache had purpose. That the no in front of me was simply clearing the wayfor the yes I was born to receive.I thought maybe the next love would redeem this one. That if I stayed faithful, it would all make sense. The boy in this story the one I almost loved, the one I thought God was preparing me for he left. And so did the next one.The man I eventually married. The one I built a life with, the one I wrote about like a…

    Funny.

It’s funny how life changes. Not always “haha” kind of funny, but weird kind of funny. For example… the other day Chris and I were talking about getting a deep freezer and I instinctually said “If we did that we could share a pig with someone”…. When would I have ever said that before meeting Chris? Ok, so that one was haha kind of funny because I literally laughed out loud. There were a few spring/summers that Chris grew a few tomato plants and I was less than interested in attempting to help… but this year was different, I wanted my own vegetable garden. I wasn’t sure I could really do it…
