    Keeping Busy!

So in my head I have all these awesome projects I want to post about but usually I get so excited that I finish a project that I forget to take pictures and blog about it. In my head I have an awesome blog, I just forget to actually publish what I think about. haha. Lately I’ve been actually finishing projects, believe it or not! Here is a little round up of life lately… Loops and Ruffles scarf, up for sale in my etsy shop! This is a cute little pillowcase dress/ruffle pants outfit I made for Payt a little while ago. I can’t remember if I posted it or…

    Instant Gratification

Sometimes working on a “large” or “cumbersome” project can be draining. I’ve been working on one for a while now, little by little making progress. But when I work too long on a project and don’t see any results I start to lose my motivation. A few days ago I took a break from the big project and decided to put together a quick project to give me a little pick me up. I have been wanting to make Payt a kids size apron for awhile since she LOVES to help me cook. I’ve had my eye on Kelly’s apron pattern/tutorial at Sewing In No Man’s Land for awhile and…

    lately.

Hello Strangers! I swear it feels like I am always thinking about new blog posts to start and then I sit down to start them and I get distracted by reading other peoples blogs…. lose myself in the black hole known as pinterest…. remember that I have a few chapters of school books to read…. hear the dryer go off and think I should fold clothes….. found myself lost in pinterest again…. get distracted watching Payton watch Cinderella…. remember I wanted to make coffee…. think I should put away the dishes…. well, I’m sure you get the idea (and yes that all just happened in the last 2 minutes). But…

Finished Projects (and an overdose of cuteness)

Today was the first day I’ve had in a long time with “nothing” planned to do. Actually, I had to stay home all day to sign for a important package for the hubs. So I dusted off the sewing machine that I’ve sadly been neglecting with school, play dates and the like. First on the list was to make something for myself, yay! I’ve been wanting to make a crochet hook case for awhile to keep all my hooks in one place. I found a great tutorial here. I just recently got my zipper foot and wanted to try it out and I had some piping that I got for…

    manly messenger madness

So i’ve been sewing for a bit now. I have come up with some pretty adorable outfits for my daughter, a few accessories and home decor projects here and every time I would finish something like that the hubs would jokingly say how I never made anything for him. I really hadn’t made too much for myself either. Sewing for babies is so much easier. and they are far less critical (at least they can’t tell you when something doesn’t look right haha). He has been after me to make him a messenger bag for awhile now. I started it probably a few weeks ago. I would work on it…

    little birdie quilt

It is finished! I’ve been working on a toddler quilt for my (not so) baby girl. I’m loving the bird/owl whimsical theme, so I’ve been doing little things here and there to update her room with it. Somewhere in between her learning the power of the word “no” and saying it to me all the time and her ever growing running and climbing skills I realized she doesn’t need a “nursery” anymore, but a more fun and creative environment. I’ve been perusing over many creative blogs to gather inspiration and information on a fun (easy) quilt. Remember, i’ve only been sewing a few months now, so making the jump from…

    quick fix.

Payton has been in such a fun playful stage lately. We were over at a friends house and her daughter had one of those toy umbrella strollers for putting baby dolls in, and Payton totally loved it. So I was on a mission to find one. I knew they would have some at target or walmart, but I didn’t want to pay $10-15 for it. I ended up finding one for $3.99 at a local resale shop. The problem was the fabric was dirty and worn out, and not very pretty. I used my handy dandy seam ripper and took apart the old fabric to use for a pattern, cut…

    Funny.

It’s funny how life changes. Not always “haha” kind of funny, but weird kind of funny. For example… the other day Chris and I were talking about getting a deep freezer and I instinctually said “If we did that we could share a pig with someone”…. When would I have ever said that before meeting Chris? Ok, so that one was haha kind of funny because I literally laughed out loud. There were a few spring/summers that Chris grew a few tomato plants and I was less than interested in attempting to help… but this year was different, I wanted my own vegetable garden. I wasn’t sure I could really do it…

    I’m still alive!

Wow, has it really been a month since I’ve posted? To be honest, it seems longer… haha. This past month has been a doozy. To be honest, I’m still trying to level out. In the past month my baby sister had a baby (WHAT?!), I’ve made several dresses, skirts, some curtains, baby blankets, burp rags, aprons and all sorts of other things, stopped working out regularly, started working out regularly again, baked all kinds of goodies, spent 5 days in Florida visiting my new niece and family, started a new term of school, got our screen printing business up and running (need tshirts? go to http://www.smashingapparel.com for more info) and…

    got dresses?

Tonight I finished the last part of my 8 week term of school and I’m delighted to get another 2 weeks off before started the next term (Biology and English Comp, oh boy!) I have developed a pretty good system for getting school done along with everything else I have to do. I have become accustomed to it, but I am SO happy to have some time off. I usually find myself struggling with guilt as I put off my homework to work on some other project that seems more interesting at the time. I’ve been working on a gnarly blanket as my crochet project. I’ve been taking my time…
