#PrettyMuddy Tampa – November 10th
So I don’t know if you knew this or not – but I’m not a native Missourian. Obviously I don’t have a Midwestern accent, So that kinda gave me away. I actually grew up in Clearwater, Florida. Well, Dunedin if we are being specific. Mostly I just tell people I’m from Tampa, since that is the area most people know. Why are we talking about where I grew up? Good question! Remember that awesome Women’s Mud Race I ran last month? Well – They are going to be in Tampa on November 10th! I’ve been working with them to find local bloggers in Tampa (Richmond, VA and Miami, FL too!)…

2012 Warrior Dash Missouri Recap
I’m so excited to share this post with you! It may be a long one, so pull up a seat and get comfy. After my Pretty Muddy Mud Run in Chicago a few weeks ago I was itching to run the Warrior Dash. I felt way more confident about the obstacles and Mud having already had a race under my belt. Thanks to the awesome FitFluential Team and Warrior Dash for making it possible for me to run this race! I love love love that Reebok has gotten involved with this race. With their affiliation with CrossFit it just seems so fitting they would sponsor a race like this. They…

Pretty Muddy Women’s Mud Run Chicago Recap
Man, oh man, am I excited to share this post with you guys! (Warning: This post is chalk full of pictures & video!) This weekend I had the opportunity to participate in the Pretty Muddy Women’s Mud Run 5k & Obstacle Course thanks to FitFluential and the team at Pretty Muddy. I have always wanted to do a mud run, but to be completely honest I was always intimidated by the obstacles. When I saw this run was all female and focused more on empowering women and having fun I was all about it! We drove from St Louis to Chicago on Friday night and were up early and ready…

Wanna get #PrettyMuddy with Me?
So, here is what the weekend looks like around here: Uhm, I thought I moved out of Florida? We have had like no rain at all this summer so I’ll take it. Our yard is in desperate need of it. All this rain makes me nostalgic. When I was 17 a young kid we used to play in the rain all the time. Splash through the puddles and mud. Bring out pool toys to float down the street. Such is life when you live in Florida. While going out and playing in the mud is considered weird as a “normal” twenty something on most days, I finally have an excuse…

The Color Run STL 2012
This weekend was epic! We signed up for The Color Run a few months back and I was so excited that it was finally time to get to it. We stayed at St Louis Union Station Marriott on Friday Night. We knew we’d want to shower after the run, plus we didn’t have to worry about parking or getting up super early to drive downtown. The view out our hotel room window was pretty sweet, looking out over the pool & pond We visited Pi Pizzeria at their new Downtown Location. I’d heard tons about Pi so I was excited to try it out. After consulting twitter I determined “carbing…

My First Fitness Love + Chia Seed Pudding
Dear Running, I wanted to write and say I have missed spending hours and hours with you, but the truth is I don’t. You were my first fitness love. I’ll always have a spot in my heart for you and I’m certain the challenge you bring me will always taunt me. I’m not exactly giving up on “us” but I need something you’re not exactly giving me… muscle. See, we were exclusive for 2 years, and they were two great years. I got faster, found courage and drive I didn’t know I had, and attempted things I never thought I could do. We have spent many hours together through blood,…

The Hardest Part {Getting Started}
I’ve heard it said that goals are just dreams with deadlines (I actually just tried to find the author of that quote… this site says its Napoleon Hill, while this site credits Diana Scharf). Lately my goals have been very fitness focused. I have done several races this year, started a lifting program, and have experimented with vegetarian and gluten-free eating. One of the things that I love about running is how the lessons you learn in running can apply to every other area of your life too. One of the lessons I’ve learned over and over again is that the hardest part of a run/workout/eating right/(fill in the blank…

GO! STL Half Marathon Recap
I did it! I finished. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how this race was gonna go. I obviously felt unprepared. I really hadn’t trained as much as I should have. I was hoping to have a huge improvement in my time from my Disney split, but mostly… I just wanted to finish. After having a DNF at the Disney Marathon I wanted to know what crossing the finish line at a big race felt like. The expo was decent, although both “big expos” i’ve been to have been stressful trying to navigate with a squirmy 2 year old. We got downtown a little later than I would have liked. We walked…

Unprepared {slight freak out}
Unprepared. That is pretty much how I feel. I haven’t had a run over 8 miles since my marathon attempt, but I’m running the GO! STL Half-Marathon on Sunday with Team Living Water. I’ve been training for this one since a few weeks after the marathon, but mostly with shorter runs and strength training. I have to admit, I’m slightly disappointed in my progress (or lack thereof) since the marathon. I pictured myself being in a different place for this race. I thought I would be faster, stronger and more confident. While I was training for the Disney Marathon I had a training plan that I followed religiously. I put…
