Santa North Pole Dash 5k & Olympic Lifting Seminar

Like I mentioned in my weekly workout recap Saturday I had the Santa’s North Pole Dash 5k AND a 3+ Hour Olympic Lifting Seminar. And I PR’d at both! Woot!! I was super excited about the Santa North Pole Dash because I was planning on meeting up with Mel and Kim, but it turns out it is REALLY hard to find people in a crowd of 2500 people all wearing the same thing. But I was also excited because this was going to be my first serious timed 5k in over a year. The last 5k I “raced” was the Firefighter 5k back in September of 2011. I had just started…

    Under Armour Spine RPM Review

When I used to think of Under Armour I would think of those skin tight shirts the football players wear under their uniforms. More recently the UA Hoodies became crazy popular. I knew they had workout clothing, I just never thought about them having shoes. I was contacted by Under Armour asking if I’d be interested in reviewing one of their products and immediately the shoes stuck out to me, I mean, How could they not? They are hot pink and teal – the best color combo out there! Check out the Under Armour Spine RPM Running Shoes I was so excited when they arrived at my house, something about…

    Weekly Workout Recap

Whew- What a week!! I am happy to report that we made it back home safe and sound. St Louis never looked so good! We had a great time, but there is nothing like being away from home to make you appreciate it more. This week was an off week for workouts. We had plans to try out a local Clearwater CrossFit, but it turns out they needed a good amount of notice to “register” for classes and our schedule was so unpredictable we couldn’t make it work. That being said, there were still some decent workouts, just not nearly as many as I’m used to. I guess having a…

Pretty Muddy Tampa Blogger Meet Up

You know that feeling of working so hard for so long on something and then just like that, it’s done? I’m kinda still letting my head wrap around this one. Back in September I ran the Pretty Muddy in Chicago. I wrote about it and was contacted by the race organizer and asked if I could help them recruit bloggers for their upcoming races. So for nearly the last 2 months I have been working like Crazy to make it happen. I got in contact with some bloggers that I have been following for awhile and found new bloggers that I adore now. Slowly but surely “Team Pretty Muddy” came…

Speaking of fun – I’m gonna have some this weekend!! Remember Pretty Muddy back in Chicago? Let me refresh your memory… It was a little something like this: Pretty Epic, Right? Well, I’m SO excited to get to do it again! I’m going to be running it with my BFF from High School and my baby sister! Our race day experience may or may not include these: You have to understand the history of my BFF and I. In high school we were literally inseparable …

Zombie Survival Dash STL Race Recap

Months and months ago I came across the Zombie Survival Dash 5k. I saw they were coming to St Louis and I was SO excited because I thought “Finally, a run I can convince my husband to sign up to run with me!” (He has run 2 other 5k’s before this one, but this was the “first” one I got him to agree to!) The registration fee was pretty steep for a 5k at $75, but for something as cool as a Zombie run I finally agreed. $150 later I had high hopes for this race. Fast forward several months and race day is almost here. Despite the constant posting…

    CrossFit Endurance

Since I started CrossFit I haven’t really been running that much. For awhile it was a relief, to be honest. I just felt like I needed a break. I wasn’t making progress and I was getting frustrated. I almost feel like it was a mental block. I’m a “plus size” runner – I can’t be fast. I could never run under a 10 minute mile I have short legs, I can’t run fast. I just don’t have the runner build As much progress as I’d made on my journey, I still struggled with negative thoughts. and I believed them. One of the things that CrossFit helped me learn was how to…

Weekly Workout Recap & October Goals Check In

Happy Monday! (don’t forget to enter the Food Should Taste Good Giveaway – It ends tomorrow!) Good news – I have been able to sleep the last few nights with little to no shoulder pain… hooray! I took some extra rest days this week to try to get it rested up and I think that helped. Here is a look at my workouts from last week. Monday – CrossFit This one was fun, I got to work out with the hubs so that made it extra fun. Him (and Aaron) beat me pretty bad, but I held my own against the rest of the class, finishing around the 14:30 mark.…
