    Surprising Myself

This week feels so weird. Maybe because we traveled last week or because the hubs is gone for a few days this week also… I don’t know. Either way, it just feels weird this week. Today is Weigh In Wednesday and while I don’t have much to report in the way of numbers on the scale. After our trip to Texas last week I was actually up 3lbs, but came back down to 186.8 as of this morning. I’ve been around 185-186 for the last few weeks. Even though I know better it will always be a bit disappointing not to see the scale move. It does, however, make me…

    I want to be Better.

This weekend was the 2013 CrossFit Games. It’s basically like the Super Bowl of CrossFit. Even though we were traveling for most of it I kept up to date with what was going on by stalking checking twitter. Knowing what I know about what it takes to get there I am just in awe of all the athletes there. Watching them it was unbelievable. It takes more than just good genes to do that – it takes hard freaking work. Sure, that 265lb deadlift may have come easier for athletes like Elizabeth Atkinwale… but she still had to put in the work to get that way. Seeing the games reminds me…

    StrongerRX RTG Gloves

One of the things that CrossFit has become known for are hand rips. Some people see them as a badge of honor, but me personally, I’d like to avoid them. Enter: StrongerRX RTG Gloves. I’ve been eyeing these gloves for awhile so when I was offered the opportunity to review them through FitFluential, I jumped at it. I was so excited when they arrived I couldn’t wait to put them to the test. I’ve been working on getting my first pull up for awhile now and I find that as I practice my kipping motion that my hands start to hurt before my actual arm muscles do. I wanted to…

    CrossFit for Hope

It’s no secret that I love CrossFit. It has pushed me past the limits I thought I had physically and mentally. It has changed my body and my life. It is more than just a hobby or a workout, it really is a lifestyle. I love it for all the growth I’ve experienced through it but I really love it for the community of it. When people are coming early and staying late, having conversation and laughter and truly look forward to coming in not just for the workout but for each other. THAT is what I love about CrossFit. The CrossFit community is more than just the people at…

    My First CrossFit Competition

I survived my first CrossFit Competition! It was actually quite a whirlwind day, so I’m going to recap as best as I can. I got a ton of pictures while everyone else was working out but was so “in the zone” prepping for my workouts that I forgot to ask the hubs to take pictures of me… #bloggerfail This event was on really short notice, like less than 2 weeks. It was partner workouts, so teams of 2 same gender partners. There were going to be 3 WODs and rumors were flying that they were going to be kinda crazy – like high volume rope climbs. We did our best…

    Find Your Why

I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I remember trying to lose weight in high school because I wanted to fit into a pretty dress for school dances or because I felt the pressure of society telling me I should want to lose weight. Even during my internship after high school I tried to get into running or eating “healthier” because I thought it was what I “should” do. Until Pizza or Oreo night. Let’s be real – sharing a dorm room with 5 other girls it was basically a hormonal food binge all year. The truth is I have always had a great level of confidence. I…

    #IMARUNNER – National Runners Day

Running was how I first started on my journey to health. I remember strapping Little Dreamer into the regular stroller we had at the time and attempting to run. It was more of a “wog” (walk-jog) at first. But I felt good getting out and doing something. I started to time myself and try to improve each time. When I started running my miles were 17-18 minutes. But I did it. I’ve come a long way since those days. Back then I struggled to call myself a runner. I thought that maybe I had to run a certain pace or distance before I could call myself a runner. But since…

    NUXUSA #NuxLovesCrossFit Review

I received the items from NuxUSA to review through my partnership with FitFluential, as always all thoughts and opinions are my own! I love workout gear. Being at the box 2x a day most days I practically live in it. When I was given the opportunity to try out some cute new activewear from NuxUSA I jumped at the chance. I shopped through their site for quite awhile and loved nearly everything. I have plenty of black capris so I decided to get the EOS Capri in Titanium. It is one of the items they had with an XL in stock, being a girl with a little extra junk in…

Owning a CrossFit Box has made that love for the community even deeper. Now I feel like some sort of mother hen. Our box is still pretty small, but doing well for being open for a month.
