CrossFit for Hope

It’s no secret that I love CrossFit. It has pushed me past the limits I thought I had physically and mentally. It has changed my body and my life. It is more than just a hobby or a workout, it really is a lifestyle. I love it for all the growth I’ve experienced through it but I really love it for the community of it. When people are coming early and staying late, having conversation and laughter and truly look forward to coming in not just for the workout but for each other. THAT is what I love about CrossFit.

The CrossFit community is more than just the people at your box, it is a world wide community. It is a community of driven and passionate people. Give those people a cause to champion for and we are unstoppable. Enter: CrossFit For Hope.

CrossFit, Inc. is committed to be a driving force in finding Cures for catastrophic children’s illnesses. Through the efforts of our affiliates and, ultimately, you, the CrossFit community can be a driving force in the fight against children’s cancer and other illnesses. Our ability to make change is infinite. Our action is a responsibility.

CrossFit for Hope is a world wide fundraising initiative to help raise money to find a cure for Children’s cancer. Cancer. One word that holds so much fear and power, exponentially so over innocent children. This word has been uttered to far too many families far too often, mine included. I’ve watched helplessly as several extended family members fight this vicious disease. I thought there was nothing I could do. But there is. We can raise money to help researchers find a cure.

Meet Kate Foster, who’s courage and bravery has made her the face of CrossFit for Hope.

Kate had been a competitive gymnast and avid CrossFitter before being diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 12. Before one of her bone marrow transplants she developed an infection in her knee and had to choose between her leg and her life. She chose life and is living it to the fullest. Please take a minute to watch her story here. I promise it will be worth the few minutes it takes to watch it. She is an incredibly inspiring young lady, with a mission to help fundraise to find a cure so no other kids have to go through what she has been through.

Our CrossFit box, CrossFit 70, has teamed up with other local affiliates including CrossFit O’Fallon and CrossFit Trenches to put on a joint event for the CrossFit for Hope Workout which will be held at CrossFit Trenches on July 6. We have set a goal to try to raise $800 as a box, but I personally would love to be able to raise $321 (like 3-2-1-GO!) If you have just $1, $5, $10 or more… just donate something! You can donate through my CrossFit for Hope Profile Here.

Now I know you’re curious, what’s the WOD?

cfforhope

Each Athlete will spend 1 minute at each of the stations listed above. After 1 minute they will rotate to the next station. This is scored by the number of reps you complete.

If you are local, try to make it out for the WOD and we’ll have some fun hanging out after I’m sure. If you can’t make it please please please consider helping me reach my fundraising goal. 100% of the money raised goes towards cancer research.
