    mama’s have “mondays” too

I think people have an over-idealized perception of the life of a stay at home mom. Most days, it is a dream job. I get to spend the day taking care of my precious baby and managing my household and I truly enjoy it.  But sometimes Monday sneaks up on me. This is especially true today. the laundry is crying out to be done after a weekend of neglect. the dishes in the sink aren’t going to wash themselves. being that it is the end of the month, the budget/bill paying needs to be done. my coffee has gotten cold twice before i’ve been able to drink it. the fridge…

    one.

whoa, when did this happen? my baby girl turned one!! it seems like just yesterday we found out we were pregnant and then we were at the hospital and then bringing her home… and now she’s one! she has such a huge personality, it’s almost scary. she has been drinking whole milk for awhile now and doesn’t use a bottle anymore. she gets around fast, which keeps me on my toes. she loves to talk and knows a lot of words. she just started learning “please” but doesn’t understand the concept of thank you just yet. to celebrate her birthday we had a get together with family and friends. she…

Disney Recap: Magic Kingdom and Epcot

Ok, I know I promised another Disney update, but I didn’t realize the pictures from the last few days were still on the camera and just now got around to importing them. You would have thought I had a ton of time due to the fact I’ve been “snowed in” most of the week, but for some reason my mind thinks I need to do MORE work on the house if I’m snowed in. So I organized the laundry room, cleaned the basement, cleaned the floors, baked and cooked a ton and a few other things. So, although delayed, here is a little recap of the last few days of…

Disney World: Days 1 and 2

man oh man did we have a blast last week!!! I have to admit I was slightly nervous about flying with an (almost) one year old, but she did great. She was absolutely exhausted but was so stimulated she refused to sleep. We stayed at the Pop Century Resort at Disney World. It was nice, although the room was kinda small. Payton was SO excited to see the Mickey Mouse Silhouettes on the Comforter, the pictures of Mickey on the wall and such. I told her she had NO clue what was coming. The next morning we headed to Disney’s Beach Club Resort for the Character Breakfast. Of course the food was…

    Thanksgiving Recap

Wow, has it been a whole week already? I swear I meant to post about thanksgiving over the weekend but I got caught up in the hole that is black friday. We went out to walmart at midnight (baby in tow and all!) and oh my goodness it was a mad house. Payton and I just hid in the toy section while Chris braved the crowds to get us a $15 shop vac and a few $2 towels. I will say I think the entertainment value was greater than the savings. People were making caravans with their 3 carts full of stuff, most of it they probably didn’t even need!…

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

I love the holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas go hand in hand for me… when you start preparing for one the other inevitably follows before you even have a chance to blink. I’ve been thinking about the holidays a little differently this time around. It’s crazy thinking about the traditions Chris and I both grew up with and trying to take some of those and add some of our own to make a healthy home for the holidays for our little one. I think this is one of those times when you really start to examine your actions and realize they have so much more weight to them when you’re setting…

    Life Happens.

My apologies for my lack of blog appearances lately. It seems like when things happen they come in waves. A few weeks ago Payton woke up from a nap with a fever. No other symptoms. After a few days of it not going down we went to the doctor. They thought it might be a urinary tract infection, so they were trying to do some tests to make sure. In the meantime her fever spiked to 105.1. I may or may not have freaked out…. and proceeded to take her to the ER as the doctor advised. They did some more tests and determined she did have a UTI and…

    recovering.

so i’m still “recovering” from this cold/cough or whatever miserable thing it is. I feel fine in the middle of the day, but mornings and evenings are rough. The cough and the sore throat are killer. swallowing is a chore, which is sad because I love to eat. I guess that could mean its a good thing for my waist line, or so you would think! I’ve eaten tons of soup and had countless cups of hot tea. I’ve been trying hard to take care of Payton while also trying to not “share” my germs. Thats so hard! I didn’t realize how much I love to kiss her little face…

    sick day

so yesterday afternoon i started to get a dry scratchy throat. by the end of the night my throat felt swollen, i had a slight cough and a pounding headache. when i woke up this morning my body was achy, still had the same closed-throat and pounding head. i was going to call in sick… until i remembered moms don’t get sick days. babys still need to be fed and diapers need changing. school deadlines don’t change. dishes don’t do themselves. food doesn’t cook itself. luckily my baby girl picked up on the fact i wasn’t feeling too hot and all she wanted to do this morning was cuddle…. (please…

    7 months!

Today my baby is 7 months old. When did time start going so fast? It seems like just yesterday she was a little 7 pound bundle of joy. Now she is a big nearly 20 pound bundle of ever-changing emotions. She has such a complex personality already. Her emotions are typically female, happy and giggly one second and frustrated the next. She loves sitting on the floor playing with her toys. She is close to crawling, at least I think so. She scoots herself backwards, but hasn’t figured out forward motion just yet. I’m thankful for the last few minutes of calm before the storm, because I know once she…
