    CrossFit Update

    It has been awhile since I talked about my recent adventures/goals/training in CrossFit. When I started CrossFit I just wanted to lose weight. I enjoyed learning all the new movements and getting a quick workout in. The more I got into it the more I realized I loved it and wanted to learn how to be good at it. I started at a huge deficit. I was overweight and had literally zero strength. I couldn’t hold myself on the pull up bar for even a nano second. Many of the great CrossFit athletes start off as a previous athlete or at least as an average size person. I had to…

    How to Eliminate Excess Hormones from Your Daily Life

    Ever since I discovered that I have Estrogen Dominance (aka Hormone Imbalance) I have been researching how to eliminate excess hormones from your daily life. When I first started researching it I was floored at how many chemically derived hormones and chemicals were in everything that we use! It was SO overwhelming. One of the reasons it is thought that some people have higher estrogen levels than progesterone/testosterone levels is that our lives are flooded with xenoestrogens. Xenoestrogens are chemicals that have estrogen like effects. Basically the body processes these chemical xenoestrogens as if they are actual estrogens. This increases our estrogen levels and causes them to be out of balance with…

    X2 Performance Review #teamx2

    Disclaimer: I am a part of #teamx2 and was provided with free samples and compensated for my time. All thoughts and opinions are my own.  When I first started working out I was totally clueless when it came to supplements. When I heard the word supplements I would think of the muscle heads at the gym drinking the mystery liquid out of a shaker cup, trying to get a good “pump” – Like I said, clueless. Fast forward many years later and while I’m not a professional nutritionist or physician, and I certainly don’t know everything there is to know about supplements, I feel like I am far more knowledgeable…

    My 2014 CrossFit Open

    Have the 5 weeks of the 2014 CrossFit Open passed already? For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Open is the start of the road to the CrossFit Games. Anyone can compete in the Open. Each week for 5 weeks CrossFit HQ releases a WOD on Thursday night and you have until Monday night to submit your score. It costs $20 to enter, which includes your own athlete profile page. Legit, right? Anyway… When it came time for the first open WOD to be announced I was excited and nervous. I want to prove that I am as fit as I feel, but ultimately it would come down…

    Alpha-Bits Snactivities {sponsored post}

    Life with a 4 year old is like a life stuck in fast forward. It goes by so fast! In this crazy tech driven world it is, unfortunately, far too easy for me to forget the importance of hands on learning time. In the world of “there’s an app for that” I often forget the value of getting down and dirty in some old fashion hands on learning. What is better than mixing together learning and eating? That is what Alpha-Bits does! Alpha-Bits is a delicious, nutritious and wholesome breakfast for children (adults enjoy it too!) with 20g of whole grains and 12 essential vitamins and nutrients per serving, including…

    Twenty-Seven

    Another year has come and gone. I can’t believe I am 27! Seriously, the years seem to be flying by. I’m now officially closer to 30 than I am to 25! Bring it on, baby! With age comes wisdom, right? Or something like that? Anyway, we celebrated all weekend long, it really was a perfect weekend! I realized how blessed I am to be surrounded by such amazing friends and family who went out of their way to make my day special. One of my friends did my hair for me (Thanks, Britt!!) My husband then took me to Julius Monroe Salon and Spa to get a fancy waterless pedicure.…

    Coffee Date

    oh hey friends. happy weekend!! I am so so so so glad it is the weekend. I love the weekends, even more now that I’m done with school! I know I missed Friday coffee date, but we can still have a Saturday coffee date, right? If we were having coffee I would tell you how nice it is to breathe through my nose. I seriously had congestion for like 2 weeks. I used a neti pot daily and I just couldn’t believe the amount of crap that came out. And I still felt stuffed up after! It really affected me in the CrossFit Open 14.1 WOD (I should really write…

    Less is More? My Adventures in Decluttering

      Lately I’ve been feeling overwhelmed with stuff. I just have felt like I’m drowning in it. I spend so much time trying to clean and organize and it never seems to make a difference. As I started to get more fed up with it I stumbled across a whole world of blogs about being minimalist. Now, I’m not here saying that I am going to become hard core and give up everything I own, but the idea of being more intentional about what I own and why I own it has really been appealing to me. I don’t know when it happened… little by little I guess. Slow enough…

    I did it!

    guys. Yesterday i submitted my last college assignment. like last last. as in i’m done. //instagram.com/p/k0LPgfjIv0/embed/ even if a get a horrible grade (which is totally possible considering this is the pickiest professor i’ve ever had) i will still pass the class and have all the credits to apply for graduation and finally get my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology! Watch out world! 4 years ago I had a brand new baby, was on unemployment after being let go from my previous job, and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. So, of course, I decided I needed a college degree. I had no idea what I…

    Progress Isn’t Linear

    I had some amazing love and response to my recent post about pressing pause on this journey. I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets overwhelmed with everything and just needs to breathe. It was really nice to not care for a little bit. To be honest, I’m pretty sure this horrid winter had a huge effect on my mentality. Seasonal Affective Disorder is a real thing people! Especially for this Florida girl. The snow and frigid temperatures really messed with my mental health! Anyway, here I am back on track. I’ve started my new meal plan with Precision Fitness STL. Ever since I started working with Jamie I…
