I’m Done Coasting
Today is 12 weeks, or 3 months, since my Abdominoplasty/Skin Removal. I knew going into it that I wanted to take it easy for the first 3 months. Like I said in my last post, I just wanted to coast through recovery to give my body time to heal. I had to prepare myself mentally to scale back on workouts and I wanted to give my mind a break when it came to eating. The first 6 weeks were hard, I hated not working out. Then when I got back in the gym it was tough to get my head in the game because I felt so weak when I…

This is Not What I expected
When I went in for surgery I knew my recovery would take about 3 months, minimum. My plan was to just take it easy, mentally and physically. Obviously I would be out of the gym completely for 6 weeks, but even when I got released to workout I knew I wanted to take it easy and let my body fully recover. I didn’t want to stress out over workouts or food choices for those first 3 months. Basically, I just wanted to coast through recovery. Next monday I’ll hit that 3 month mark. It’s weird now, though. When I first started losing weight I was so focused on the number…

Weekly Workout Round Up 9/30
Yesterday marked 7 weeks since my Abdominoplasty/Excess Skin Removal It was also the start of my second week back to working out. Everyone has been asking me how I’ve been feeling and if any movements bother me. So, I’m going back to recaping my workouts and adding in scaling notes. If you are returning back to workout out after any kind of hiatus, especially if you were off for medical reasons please take it easy and talk to your doctor. I’ve been communicating closely with my doctor and let him know exactly what we do at CrossFit and asking if there should be any restrictions. Every doctor is going to be…

JD Sports Review
I was provided a pair of shoes in exchange for my honest opinions about the site and ordering process. All thoughts and opinions are my own. It is no secret that I love shoes. I mean, c’mon, what girl doesn’t love shoes?! When it comes to the type of shoes I have in my closet… or strewn about my floor… there are 2 kinds: athletic shoes and flip flops. I’m not too much of a fancy shoe lover, I’m far more practical. While comfort and function come in ahead of fashion when choosing shoes that doesn’t mean my shoes are all drab. Recently the people at JD Sports offered to…

What Are The Best Shoes For CrossFit?
The Following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Reebok. For as long as I’ve been in CrossFit there has been a lot of talk about what shoes are the best. I have used several different types of shoes myself, as well as seeing a lot of my clients use different shoes as well. When I started CrossFit the shoes I used were large and clunky running shoes with a huge heel drop. As a newer CrossFitter you might not realize the difference your shoes make since you are probably thinking more about the movement and trying to catch your breath. As you start to get more familiar…

Memorial Day Murph 2014
I know this post is a little bit late, but it is something I really wanted to write about. If you have been around CrossFit for awhile you’ve probably heard all about the “Girls” and the “Heroes” – The Girls are Benchmark workouts that are named after girls, the Heroes are harder than average workouts made to honor fallen soldiers. Without a doubt one of the most notorious hero WODs is Murph. It is pretty standard to honor the fallen on Memorial Day by doing this WOD. It has become one of the most highly anticipated community events at CrossFit 70. When we opened back in early 2013 Memorial Day…

Weekly Check In- 9 Weeks Out
Another week has gone by already? This means I’m now just 9 weeks out from my Skin Removal Surgery. This was my first real week of trying to stay focused on my main June goals… Drinking 4 Liters of water a day, Taking vitamins Regularly, and Staying on the meal plan. //instagram.com/p/o5-3ghjIre/embed/ Overall I’d give myself a B- for the week. I stayed 100% on the meal plan until Thursday when I had an extra quest bar… I was just starving while coaching! Not the worst thing ever. I was consistently getting my water in (and peeing all the time too!) and taking my vitamins. Then comes the weekend… What…

Fran’s Closet RX Giveaway
It’s no secret that crossfitters love their gear. From nano’s to tanks I am always on the look for the coolest new gear to sport when I’m sweating it out in a WOD. I love all the funny crossfit sayings you see on shirts, but I also love the simple design I came across with Fran’s Closet RX. Their signature line included barbell applique and my favorite, the barbell love shirt! The shirt is the ever popular Next Level Apparel brand with the burnout type design. It fits pretty true to size, I wear a Large. I love that this is a t-shirt you can wear during a WOD or with…

emotional roller coaster
Some days I really hate the emotional roller coaster that comes along with being a woman. I can be on top of the world one minute and hosting a huge pity party the next. This has happened to me more times than I care to admit in the last week… or day. I have some seriously amazing highs that quickly turn into the self-loathing lows I used to be so familiar with. It is weird for me because for the most part my journey has been one of more highs than lows. So when all of the sudden I doubt my ability, wonder why I even try, and just want…

CrossFit Update
It has been awhile since I talked about my recent adventures/goals/training in CrossFit. When I started CrossFit I just wanted to lose weight. I enjoyed learning all the new movements and getting a quick workout in. The more I got into it the more I realized I loved it and wanted to learn how to be good at it. I started at a huge deficit. I was overweight and had literally zero strength. I couldn’t hold myself on the pull up bar for even a nano second. Many of the great CrossFit athletes start off as a previous athlete or at least as an average size person. I had to…
