Zombie Survival Dash STL Race Recap

Months and months ago I came across the Zombie Survival Dash 5k. I saw they were coming to St Louis and I was SO excited because I thought “Finally, a run I can convince my husband to sign up to run with me!” (He has run 2 other 5k’s before this one, but this was the “first” one I got him to agree to!) The registration fee was pretty steep for a 5k at $75, but for something as cool as a Zombie run I finally agreed. $150 later I had high hopes for this race. Fast forward several months and race day is almost here. Despite the constant posting…

    STL Bloggers Meet Up

Holy wow. This weekend has been FULL of awesome STL experiences! It’s going to take a few posts to recap them all. Let’s rewind back to Friday. It was finally time for the first “official” meeting of the STL Bloggers! About a month ago I decided that we needed to start a group for bloggers in the STL area to connect. So I created the STL Bloggers group on facebook and invited the local bloggers I knew of… who invited more bloggers they knew of… and now we have nearly 50 members! So Friday I actually got “dressed up” in my new Altar’d State top (that gives back!), my Old…

Altar’d State: Fashion Focused, Cause Motivated.

Alternate Title for this Post: Shut Up the Fat Girl. Some people are born with this innate ability to appear stylish all the time. I am NOT one of those people. I have struggled with fashion as long as I can remember. Looking back at my old pictures is painful. Fashion doesn’t seem to come naturally for me, and struggling with obesity doesn’t help at all. I distinctly remember going shopping with my grandma for a dress to wear to my great grandpa’s wedding. I think i was 12? We went all over the place but just couldn’t find anything that fit or that we could agree on. We ended…

    WIAW #14 – STL Edition

I’m so excited that it’s Wednesday! Tuesday’s are always pretty crazy for me because it is my deadline for school work for the week… and of course I procrastinate until just before the deadline. Oops. Anyway- I always look forward to Wednesday because the stress of meeting deadlines is lifted, if even just for a moment. This week I am focusing on my #KeysToSTL so instead of sharing random meals and snacks with you I’m going to share some of my favorite places to eat in the STL area. 54th Street Bar & Grill – Wentzville We have one of these about a mile from our house here in Wentzville. It…

    Chevy #KeysToSTL

Several months ago I was approached by the Chevy #KeystoSTL program through Alive Magazine inviting me to be a part of their campaign. Of course, I was stoked to be a part of it. I got to check out their booth out at the  Color Run this summer. I watched other STL influencers get their turn to drive a Chevy. Some got the Malibu, Some got the Volt… but deep down inside I kept hoping for my ultimate dream car… and all that hoping paid off! I was going to get a 2012 Chevy Tahoe for a week!! If I could do a backflip, I would have. I don’t know what it…

    2012 Warrior Dash Missouri Recap

I’m so excited to share this post with you! It may be a long one, so pull up a seat and get comfy. After my Pretty Muddy Mud Run in Chicago a few weeks ago I was itching to run the Warrior Dash. I felt way more confident about the obstacles and Mud having already had a race under my belt. Thanks to the awesome FitFluential Team and Warrior Dash for making it possible for me to run this race! I love love love that Reebok has gotten involved with this race. With their affiliation with CrossFit it just seems so fitting they would sponsor a race like this. They…

    Pound the Pavement 5k Recap

We did it! Payton and I completed our first 5k together! It was a blast too. There is something so refreshing about a small no-frills local race. There were maybe 200 people there for both the 5k and 10k. We arrived early and walked around a bit to warm up. Before the race even started she was asking where the finish line was so she could get her trophy… HA! We started out in the back with a few other strollers. This race was very punctual, 8:00am on the dot and with a quick 3-2-1 go and we were off! I actually started out pretty fast for me and was…

    The Color Run STL 2012

This weekend was epic! We signed up for The Color Run a few months back and I was so excited that it was finally time to get to it. We stayed at St Louis Union Station Marriott on Friday Night. We knew we’d want to shower after the run, plus we didn’t have to worry about parking or getting up super early to drive downtown. The view out our hotel room window was pretty sweet, looking out over the pool & pond We visited Pi Pizzeria at their new Downtown Location. I’d heard tons about Pi so I was excited to try it out. After consulting twitter I determined “carbing…

    My First CrossFit Experience

I shook my head at people who had done CrossFit before. “That’s Crazy” I thought. I liked working out, but didn’t think I would like that. Then slowly it became a fad and I didn’t want to do it just because everyone else was doing it. I hate it when people do stuff just because its a “fad”. The problem was I couldn’t argue with the results. I’ve known a lot of people get into great shape using CrossFit. Plus, Bob Harper does CrossFit. And I love Bob Harper. When the 60 Day Fat Loss Challenge came up through my work I knew thats what I would have to do…
