    Can I love my body and still want to change it?

    Being in the healthy living/weight loss social media circle I’m constantly exposed to different thoughts and ideas about body love and acceptance, while on the same page seeing or reading something that makes me feel pressured to look, eat, or think a specific way. On one hand I do love my body where it is now, all 190lbs of it. I love my body for what it can do. I am proud of how far that I’ve come. But having a conversation with a friend we struggled with the idea of balancing loving our bodies but also being ok with the fact that there are some things that we would still like to change…

    Healthy Options for Kids #KidsLiveWell

    Disclosure: I am receiving compensation for my involvement in the #KidsEatWell initiative. All opinions are my own.  On May 17th the National Restaurant Association hosted it’s annual conference in Chicago. At the conference they recognized all the winners of the Kids LiveWell Recipe Challenge. On hand to help with the awards was celebrity chef Robert Irvine I absolutely love that they had some big names on hand to talk about how important it is to teach our kids proper nutrition! If we don’t start teaching them healthy habits now it is going to be even harder to get them to learn about healthy eating in the future. As the mom of a 4 year old I…

    Fresh Start #LetsTalkBums

    This post is sponsored by Cottonelle. All thoughts and Opinions are my own. Mornings are a bit crazy around here. I guess that could be said about most houses with young children! Not only are the mornings crazy, but they start early! Having a morning routine makes it a little easier for me to make sure I’m feeling my best when I start the day. Mornings around here start around 5:15am most days. Since I workout first thing in the morning I don’t shower until after I get home. That doesn’t mean I don’t get a fresh start to my day! I use Cottonelle Flushable Cleansing Cloths and Clean Care Toilet…

    #KidsLiveWell Recipe Challenge

    This post has been sponsored by the National Restaurant Association and Triberr. All opinions are my own. I love eating out. Mostly because I don’t have to cook or clean up. But also because it has always been a huge social experience for us. Before I started learning about health and nutrition I didn’t really think too much about food choices. That is one of the reasons why I was 260+lbs. As I began to learn to make better choices for myself I started to notice that there weren’t very many appealing healthy choices for kids. That’s why the National Restaurant Association started the Kids LiveWell program. Kids Live Well is…

    CrossFit Update

    It has been awhile since I talked about my recent adventures/goals/training in CrossFit. When I started CrossFit I just wanted to lose weight. I enjoyed learning all the new movements and getting a quick workout in. The more I got into it the more I realized I loved it and wanted to learn how to be good at it. I started at a huge deficit. I was overweight and had literally zero strength. I couldn’t hold myself on the pull up bar for even a nano second. Many of the great CrossFit athletes start off as a previous athlete or at least as an average size person. I had to…

    How to Eliminate Excess Hormones from Your Daily Life

    Ever since I discovered that I have Estrogen Dominance (aka Hormone Imbalance) I have been researching how to eliminate excess hormones from your daily life. When I first started researching it I was floored at how many chemically derived hormones and chemicals were in everything that we use! It was SO overwhelming. One of the reasons it is thought that some people have higher estrogen levels than progesterone/testosterone levels is that our lives are flooded with xenoestrogens. Xenoestrogens are chemicals that have estrogen like effects. Basically the body processes these chemical xenoestrogens as if they are actual estrogens. This increases our estrogen levels and causes them to be out of balance with…

    X2 Performance Review #teamx2

    Disclaimer: I am a part of #teamx2 and was provided with free samples and compensated for my time. All thoughts and opinions are my own.  When I first started working out I was totally clueless when it came to supplements. When I heard the word supplements I would think of the muscle heads at the gym drinking the mystery liquid out of a shaker cup, trying to get a good “pump” – Like I said, clueless. Fast forward many years later and while I’m not a professional nutritionist or physician, and I certainly don’t know everything there is to know about supplements, I feel like I am far more knowledgeable…

    My 2014 CrossFit Open

    Have the 5 weeks of the 2014 CrossFit Open passed already? For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Open is the start of the road to the CrossFit Games. Anyone can compete in the Open. Each week for 5 weeks CrossFit HQ releases a WOD on Thursday night and you have until Monday night to submit your score. It costs $20 to enter, which includes your own athlete profile page. Legit, right? Anyway… When it came time for the first open WOD to be announced I was excited and nervous. I want to prove that I am as fit as I feel, but ultimately it would come down…

    Alpha-Bits Snactivities {sponsored post}

    Life with a 4 year old is like a life stuck in fast forward. It goes by so fast! In this crazy tech driven world it is, unfortunately, far too easy for me to forget the importance of hands on learning time. In the world of “there’s an app for that” I often forget the value of getting down and dirty in some old fashion hands on learning. What is better than mixing together learning and eating? That is what Alpha-Bits does! Alpha-Bits is a delicious, nutritious and wholesome breakfast for children (adults enjoy it too!) with 20g of whole grains and 12 essential vitamins and nutrients per serving, including…

    Twenty-Seven

    Another year has come and gone. I can’t believe I am 27! Seriously, the years seem to be flying by. I’m now officially closer to 30 than I am to 25! Bring it on, baby! With age comes wisdom, right? Or something like that? Anyway, we celebrated all weekend long, it really was a perfect weekend! I realized how blessed I am to be surrounded by such amazing friends and family who went out of their way to make my day special. One of my friends did my hair for me (Thanks, Britt!!) My husband then took me to Julius Monroe Salon and Spa to get a fancy waterless pedicure.…
