Healthy isn’t A Size: My Thoughts on the Being Thin Doesn’t Make Me Happy Post

The last few days I’ve had a few discussions with people about health, size, & plus size fashion, plus size models in the media and several other topics which got me thinking about my point of view on it and then this morning I caught a clip on the Today Show about a woman who wrote about how Being Thin doesn’t make her happy, but being “fat” does. The article is beautifully written. I can see her point of view. And I agree, where she was when she said she was at her peak of “physical hotness” was NOT healthy. She said she was eating 1000 calories a day, sleeping around 3…

    My Crazy Hormones: Part 2

Last year I wrote a post about how my hormones were making me crazy. I never really revisited that after that post so I wanted to write one. When I had my hormones tested last year I had a Mirena IUD and wasn’t having periods at all (TMI? Sorry…) I did use the prescribed creams for awhile but I still felt off. One of the problems is that Progesterone rises and falls as a woman progresses through her cycle, and at that point I wasn’t having one. I had plans to have my IUD removed and decided at that point to stop using the creams just to see what my body…

    And Then What?

I’m just over a month away from turning 28. Is that too early to feel like I’m going through some serious self-reflection/mid life crisis stuff? Maybe because 28 is so much closer to 30… and for some reason my whole life I thought I would have it all figured out by the time I turned 30. The decade of the 20’s is the one for figuring it all out and the 30’s is when you get to enjoy it all, right? Isn’t that how it works? See, the problem isn’t where I am. As I stop and look around I am really super duper happy and blessed to be where…

    My Story Isn’t Special

Lately I’ve been struggling to find something, anything to say. Some days I’ve felt like a fraud. I was filling out some application for something somewhere and it asked about what made my story unique. And it was then that I realized I stopped valuing my words… my influence… my story. Maybe it is the comparison trap everyone talks about. or just feeling stuck. or inadequate. or that somehow my story wasn’t “sensational” enough. and I was taken back to the days of my bible school internship after high school. Classes, lectures, small groups… all encouraging you to write your personal testimony. Many people talked about lives riddled with drugs,…

Lightened Up Ranch Tuna Salad #BeeHealthy

http://member.clevergirlscollective.com/track?u=10185&g=965 It is already 3 weeks into the New Year. There is a saying that goes around saying that it takes 21 days to form a habit. So, have you made your New Year’s Resolutions into habits or have you already forgotten what they were? This is your year to become who it is you want to be. It’s still a New Year, and there is time to become that new you that you’ve always dreamed of. Many people set health related goals. As a CrossFit Gym owner and Coach the most common goals I see people setting this time of year are to lose fat and/or gain muscle. When…

Do More of What Makes You Happy

Oh, January. The month of reflection and goals continues on… As I mentioned a few times I felt like 2014 was just a year of surviving. It was like I just went through the motions of doing all the things that I had to do and not so much time doing things that I loved to do. I often work from 5 or 6am until 7pm, splitting my time between Coaching at CrossFit 70 and working as a consultant with our Web Marketing company. On top of keeping the house running well and having time for my family I often felt like the things I enjoyed doing just got pushed…

3 Tips for Sticking to Your New Year’s Resolutions with Progresso™ Light

This post was sponsored by Progresso™ through their partnership POPSUGAR. While I was compensated by POPSUGAR to write a post about Progresso™, all opinions are my own.     If you are like many people you probably made some goals or resolutions for this year. When January 1st rolls around people are high on motivation and spend the day planning out their meals and workouts, organizing those overflowing closets, and setting up their plan for getting out of debt. By the time January 15th rolls around we have become overwhelmed and our meal plans turn into take out, our savings becomes spent, and workouts are sacrificed in favor of sleeping…

    On CrossFit, Coaching, and Progress

When I first started CrossFit everything was a new experience. Now 3 years into it and every workout is still a totally new experience. 2014 was an interesting year for me. Every year I since I started my health journey I have been able to look back and say I’m stronger… faster… lighter… than the year before. I don’t know that I can do that this year. This year was all about having my excess skin removed, letting my body recover, and trying to learn what this new body is capable of. I am finally getting back to where I am just about as strong and as fast as I…

    My Word for 2015: Thrive.

I know some people can get tired of all the New Years posts, all the talk about resolutions, and everything that comes with this time of year.  I enjoy having some time to reflect on the past as well as set a new path for the future. I really don’t like the cookie cutter resolutions like lose weight and get out of debt. The last couple of years I have tried to pick a word or a theme for my year. In 2013 it was to be intentional and last year was to simplify. I feel like I did a decent job trying to simplify our house through decluttering last…

    Manifesta Activewear

Happy New Year!! I’m so excited for 2015. I love the feeling of a fresh start that comes with a new year. It may just be another day but the refreshing dose of motivation that comes with it is always welcome. Around this time motivation for getting healthy is at an all time high. Along with the New Year’s motivation, I often find some motivation in wearing cute workout gear. A few weeks ago while browsing online I came across Manifesta. What attracted me to them was their positive, encouraging posts on Social Media. After digging a little bit deeper into the company I found their manifesta on their website…
