Total Body Tabata
📌 Editor’s Note (2025):This post reflects a time when my work was centered on physical health and performance. At the time, high-intensity workouts and structured movement were how I found strength and purpose.Since then, my focus has shifted. I’ve transitioned from fitness coaching to clinical mental health, and my training now centers around trauma, nervous system regulation, and emotional wellbeing.I’m keeping this post available for those who still find value in movement-based routines. But if you’re looking for current content on healing, mental health, and the connection between body and mind, you can find that here. This post may contain affiliate links. Twenty-Eight
Yesterday was a special day… my birthday! My twenty-eighth birthday to be exact. Birthdays have always been fun to me. They are another day to celebrate and look back on the past year and set goals for the year ahead. I have a blurred memory of lots of my birthdays growing up… the first one I remember was when I was 4. I remember getting this big brown teddy bear that I actually may still have in the basement… There was one that was a surprise party on Easter Sunday, that may have been my 7th I think. I had my easter dress, bonnet, and gloves on and heard the…

Reebok Cardio Ultra Review & Giveaway
Disclaimer: I am an Affiliate with Reebok and was provided with Product in exchange for my honest review. This post may contain affiliate links. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Remember on my last post how I talked about living life outside the box? Well thanks to my Friends at Reebok I was given the opportunity to try out a shoe made for something other than CrossFit. Obviously I love my Nano‘s, but Reebok has so many other shoes made for different activities. They recently came out with the Reebok Cardio Ultra, the perfect shoe for your Studio Cardio classes. I wanted to put them to the…

Fitness Outside The Box and Other Ramblings
Sometimes when I stay quiet on the blog for too long it is because I don’t feel like I have anything deep or profound to say. Just because I don’t currently have something deep, profound, or emotional to say doesn’t mean I don’t have anything to say at all. So today I feel like rambling on about random things…. Did I ever tell you about the time I won the USSF Missouri State Weightlifting Championship? Last summer right before my surgery I spent a good 6 weeks on a dedicated Weightlifting Programing Cycle. We heard about a local meet going down and decided to sign up. There was like 8 of…

What The CrossFit Open Means to Me
If you are a part of the CrossFit community, or you know someone who is, you are probably aware that this week marks the beginning of the CrossFit Open. The CrossFit Open is a 5 week competition where they release one workout a week for 5 weeks and if you register you can submit your score to be ranked among athletes in your region and worldwide. The top tier of athletes from each region will compete at the regionals, and the top tier of athletes from the regional competition get to go on to compete in the annual CrossFit Games in Carson, California over the summer. For many of the elite…

Healthy isn’t A Size: My Thoughts on the Being Thin Doesn’t Make Me Happy Post
The last few days I’ve had a few discussions with people about health, size, & plus size fashion, plus size models in the media and several other topics which got me thinking about my point of view on it and then this morning I caught a clip on the Today Show about a woman who wrote about how Being Thin doesn’t make her happy, but being “fat” does. The article is beautifully written. I can see her point of view. And I agree, where she was when she said she was at her peak of “physical hotness” was NOT healthy. She said she was eating 1000 calories a day, sleeping around 3…

My Crazy Hormones: Part 2
Last year I wrote a post about how my hormones were making me crazy. I never really revisited that after that post so I wanted to write one. When I had my hormones tested last year I had a Mirena IUD and wasn’t having periods at all (TMI? Sorry…) I did use the prescribed creams for awhile but I still felt off. One of the problems is that Progesterone rises and falls as a woman progresses through her cycle, and at that point I wasn’t having one. I had plans to have my IUD removed and decided at that point to stop using the creams just to see what my body…

And Then What?
I’m just over a month away from turning 28. Is that too early to feel like I’m going through some serious self-reflection/mid life crisis stuff? Maybe because 28 is so much closer to 30… and for some reason my whole life I thought I would have it all figured out by the time I turned 30. The decade of the 20’s is the one for figuring it all out and the 30’s is when you get to enjoy it all, right? Isn’t that how it works? See, the problem isn’t where I am. As I stop and look around I am really super duper happy and blessed to be where…

My Story Isn’t Special
Lately I’ve been struggling to find something, anything to say. Some days I’ve felt like a fraud. I was filling out some application for something somewhere and it asked about what made my story unique. And it was then that I realized I stopped valuing my words… my influence… my story. Maybe it is the comparison trap everyone talks about. or just feeling stuck. or inadequate. or that somehow my story wasn’t “sensational” enough. and I was taken back to the days of my bible school internship after high school. Classes, lectures, small groups… all encouraging you to write your personal testimony. Many people talked about lives riddled with drugs,…

Hello Yoga
For what seems like forever I’ve been telling myself I should do yoga. The relaxation, the stretching, the strength… I knew it would be good for me. The reality is running a gym means that it’s hard to line up my schedule with a yoga studio. I’ve tried a few videos but to be honest many of them got a little too into the spiritual side of it, which isn’t bad, but not something I’m too in to. I found an app for my iPad called FitStar Yoga that I am loving. For the past few weeks I’ve been spending some time on my rest days doing a session or two…
