I’m so excited today!!! We are a day into the Holiday Weight Loss Challenge and I’m feeling pretty good about it (PS- It’s not to late to sign up!! The pot is already over $6700!!). So many people are saying they are already making healthier choices because of it! SO PROUD of all of you! I mentioned yesterday that I was a little bummed with my weigh in, so I went in search of some inspiration. For me, nothing is more motivating than seeing the progress I’ve already made. If you have seen my Health Journey Page – you know that this has been a life long struggle for me. I’ve been trying to get to my “healthy” weight seriously for almost 3 years now. After I had my daughter I had one pair of jeans that fit comfortably (that weren’t maternity jeans… we won’t talk about how long I wore those for…) and they were a size 20. I wore them almost every day because none of my other clothes fit. So, I decided to pull out those bad boys and see how they fit now….
While I still have a long way to go before I reach my healthy weight, I am so so proud of the progress I have made. And it is worth celebrating. This journey is hard. and long. and sometimes it just sucks. My blog crush friend Emily posted her thoughts about a bad weigh in last week. She was SO real about it. The truth of the matter is just because we blog about it doesn’t mean that we don’t get frustrated with the ups and downs of long term weight loss. But just because it’s hard, and frustrating, and we have slip ups and let downs does NOT negate the progress we have made. And you know what else? That progress doesn’t just have to be a number on scale or a pants size. Sure those are the most visual and make for great marketing… but sometimes it’s being able to run 30 seconds longer. Or lift 10lbs heavier. Or maybe… just maybe… it’s getting the courage to do something absolutely terrifying…
Like register for your Level 1 CrossFit Certification. Oh yes, this is really happening. I will be going to CrossFit Mayhem in February to take my Level 1 Certification Class. This is kind of a big deal for me.
Am I terrified? Yea.
Am I excited? You bet.
Did I ever think I would do something like this? Not a chance.
Six months ago when I started CrossFit I had no idea how it would change my life. I celebrated every step of progress… from not being able to do girl push ups, to being able to eek out a few boy push ups. From not being able to lift the bar to hitting a 200lb deadlift. It was all the little steps a long the way… the journey… that led me to where I am today. And I am so thankful for this journey.
So- I want to celebrate with you! Upload a picture of something that reminds you of the progress you made to instagram or twitter and tag me in it – use the hashtag #celebratetheprogress so we can all celebrate with you. It can be anything, big or small.
And remember those Under Armour Shoes I told you about?
