Weekly Workout Recap

I cannot believe that it is the last week of 2012. Christmas was great. I love celebrating but I am also always so anxious to get back to “routine” – especially with it being the final week of our dietbet! I tried to stay close to my ideal diet, but I went off the way for Christmas. I have, however, been killing it with the workouts!

Monday- CrossFit

12 Days of Christmas
WOD
1 Squat Clean
2 Lateral Jumps
3 Clapping Pushups
4 Push Press
5 SDHP
6 Burpees
7 Pull Ups
8 Thrusters
9 Sit Ups
10 KB Swings
11 Box Jumps
12 OH Lunges
Perform just like the song:
1
2-1
3-2-1
4-3-2-1

Holy WOD. Seriously. This took me 35:04. I was fine up until the thrusters. Those were totally killer. Check out my burn!

WODlove

I wore my new WODlove tank. I’m in love with it.
“Deadlifts, Squats, & Wallball Shots – That’s what Girls Are Made Of”
and check out the GUN SHOW! BAM!

I also bundled up for a 2.5+ mile run… brrr…

By the way, can you tell I’m loving my Polar FT40, Especially since I finally took the fitness test and my calories are more active. I’m also loving my Brooks Glycerin 10‘s more than I can begin to tell you. I’ve had almost no pain in my bunion since I started running in them! Full reviews coming soon.

Saturday- CrossFit

This Saturday at CrossFit was kind of a special one, we were doing the WOD “Victoria” named after Victoria Soto, one of the teachers who died in the Sandy Hook shooting. A hero WOD in CrossFit is a notoriously difficult WOD that is named after a fallen Hero. This one was going to be tough. I knew it going in to it… It has literally everything I’m not good at.

5RFT (5 Rounds For Time)
10 Thrusters 95/65
14 Box Jumps 24/20
12 Sumo Deadlift High Pulls 95/65
12 Burpees
27 KB Swings 53/35
40 minute cap

I was really concerned about the time cap. Especially after the hubs finished in 30ish minutes. If he was close to the cut off, I knew I would struggle. And I did.
As a came up on my last round I knew that I could logisically finish in time if I didn’t stop to rest at all.
I was spent. People around me had been finishing. There were only 3 of us left working.
The clock ticked over to 38:00 and I was on burpees. I suck at burpees.
I somehow eeked them out and ended up getting my kettlebell swings in just under time at 39:27.
I don’t know if I would have finished if I didn’t have the support and encouragement of my box-mates.
I literally dropped the kettlebell and collapsed after the last one.
It was the best I could do to honor the memory of Victoria and all those lost in the horrible tragedy.

Sunday- 5 miles

Last Sunday I did 5 miles, my longest run since April. I decided to repeat that today. It was WAY harder this week. Probably because I was spent from yesterdays’s WOD. I knew I was probably going to struggle so instead of doing my normal 1 mile loop in the neighborhood I did an out and back. When you 2.5 miles from home you HAVE to do the 2.5 miles to get back! So, I got the miles in and got to wear some awesome compression socks from Lunatik Athletiks. Seriously, how adorable are they?

sundayrun

After the run I took a epsom salt bath… and fell asleep sitting there… Then put on my comfy new VS Pink sweats, fuzzy slippers and hoodie… and spent most of the night lounging on the couch watching 100 best songs of the 90s… and then the 100 best songs of the 00’s. And now I feel old.

sunday recovery

I’ve got a TON of stuff coming up for you guys next week. I’m SO excited.

How was your last week of 2012? Did you make it count?

  1. Girl! You look so buff! Love your new WODLove tank and also love the fact that you kicked so much booty this week! I thought of you the other day when I was stressing about my imperfect housekeeping and remembered what you said about seeking healthy balance over perfection obsession. It helped me!
