Yesterday I told you guys that I was gearing up for a Holiday Weight loss challenge, and I want to give you all the details since we’ll be starting it next week!
Why?
This time of year it is so easy to get caught up in the holidays and put off your health and fitness goals until your New Years Resolutions. What happens is we end up gaining weight through the holiday season and spending the first few months of the year trying to lose that weight just to get back to where we were before the holidays. It is totally possible to survive the holidays without packing on the pounds! Let’s get a jumpstart on those resolutions! Plus – I’m going to Costa Rica in January and want to be beach ready. ha.
The Dietbet
Have you heard of Dietbet? This is brilliant! They call it “social dieting”. Losing weight is hard, it is even harder on your own. By joining Dietbet you are gaining a whole support and encouragement team, as well as the opportunity to earn cold hard cash. The buy in is just $20. The more people join, the higher the pot is for the winners! The dietbet will last 4 weeks: December 5- January 2. The great thing about this contest – there can be more than 1 winner! The people who lose at least 4% of their starting weight will all split the pot. This is more of a reason to get your friends to join! The more people who join the more money you can win! I’m so excited about this – Remember how well I did during the 60 Day Fat Loss Challenge? I do SO much better where there is CA$H involved. Ha.
To join in just go to www.dietbet.com/journeyofadreamer and sign up! There will other rewards and surprises along the way, as well as CASH prizes for the winners!
My Plan of Attack
I have been doing really well with workouts, so my biggest changes need to be in my eating. I really haven’t been watching what I eat and I can totally feel it. I have pretty bad stomach issues when I eat a lot of grain/gluten. This was especially noticeable after the Thanksgiving holiday (and supporting small business saturday with Grandma’s Cookies… lots of Grandma’s Cookies). I was recently sent It Starts With Food by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig. They are the founders of Whole9Life and are the ones behind the Whole30 Challenge. I’ve been reading bits and pieces when I can and I can say I’m so excited to read the rest. I think some of this information will help shape my food choices over the course of this challenge. I don’t know if I’m ready to commit to a complete Whole30 just yet… We’ll see.
I also need to get my running mileage up. I want to have a good base before starting my half-marathon training. One of my ways to help with this is to set and track my goals. I have found an awesome way to do so with the Believe I Am Training Journal.
The Believe I Am movement was started by pro athletes Lauren Fleshman and Ro McGettigan. They both firmly believe that the key to success in life, and running, is the connection between mind and body. They believe your mind is a garden and what you water is what grows- which I absolutely agree with. This journal expounds on that idea. It helps you set goals, make a plan to reach them, and track your progress.
Check out their site at www.believeiam.com for more awesome inspiration and products
I’m also going to ramp up the intensity on my CrossFit. I’ve still got to figure out just what that means… I just know I want to be stronger.

What do you think? Is this something you want in on? Don’t let this be just another holiday season where you walk away with extra “fluff” – Let’s do this together! JOIN NOW!

awesome idea! Right before I saw your post I had planned on doing a “pre” new years resolution challenge for my blog too. Don’t worry I won’t copy your ideas. 😉 In fact I might join in on yours too! I am in the same boat. My biggest challenge is healthy eating. I’ve been so bad lately!
