Lately I’ve been looking for motivation and inspiration to take my fitness journey to the next level. This week I got the answer I was looking for! Barton Publishing, the company the hubs and I work for, is starting a 60 day fat loss challenge! This is awesome on several levels… First, it has some awesome prizes that include prizes for every percent of fat lost on top of prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall. Secondly, it gets the hubs and I motivated to work towards the same goals at the same time! Third, it gives us a definite time goal and motivation for it.
Tomorrow morning we are going for a DXA scan to accurately measure body fat. We are going to tighten up our eating, leaning more towards a mix of clean eating and calorie counting. I’m going to be doing some more running and speed training getting ready for my next 5k, The Color Run in August! We are going all in here and are going to start doing CrossFit also. To be honest, I’m a little nervous about it, but looking forward to it!
I have also been reading The Skinny Rules by Bob Harper (love that guy!!) and it’s been really good stuff! Bring on the H2Ox2!
I absolutely love the idea of having some non-negotiable’s. We will see how I feel about that when I finish reading all of them, lol.
I have a few goals I want to achieve by the end of the 60 days:
1) Run a 5k in 35 minutes or under
2) Drop at least a pant size (hopefully more)
3) Get to “ONEderland” for good (So close, but so far away!)
4) Work on proper push up/pull up form (I want to eventually be able to do both, but don’t know if 60 days is a good enough goal for where I am at now)
I am going to set small rewards for myself for each milestone I reach. My first is going to be 10 pounds lost (which should put me in ONEderland!) and for reaching that goal I will go get my hair colored professionally.
Following along here and on twitter for updates on my progress. I’ll post results of the DXA scan and before pictures (yikes) sometime soon. Ready or not, it’s coming! Here is to an awesome 60 days (and beyond!)
I think setting goals, rewards and a time frame, is so important. And motivating! I’m looking forward to following your progress, and sending you my best wishes! 🙂

Your struggles sound so much like mine! I am in that same pattern and need something to get me thinking healthy, in shape and happy with what I can do. Thanks for sharing your story. I was recently asked to redefine my focus and what I want to do in regards to weight loss and working you. You helped me to start think about what kind of things I want to do. Thanks and good luck with your journey

How did the DXA scan go? I just had my first one and it was very interesting (and not as bad as I thought it would be!)
