Kill Cliff: Test Positive for Awesome

I’ve been doing CrossFit for awhile now and I still feel like I’m learning new things. As CrossFit becomes more popular more and more specialty products pop up for it. One that has always intrigued me was Kill Cliff. See I am of the belief that one of the hardest things to master in CrossFit is recovery. Anything that claims to help me recover faster so I can hit the box harder next time is worth a try in my book. I reached out to Kill Cliff and they actually sent me some samples to try it for myself.

Kill Cliff is NOT an energy drink. It is a recovery drink. It’s not something that promises to make you into Rich Froning or Miranda Oldroyd overnight (dangit) but it does promise to make you more AWESOME. It was made by a former Navy Seal who was tired of trying to pop pills to recover from his workouts. He decided to create a natural recovery drink that helped with recovery and taste good too.  It includes things like Ginger Root, Green Tea Extract, Milk Thistle, Ginseng Root Powder and an enzyme mix of Amylase, Beta Gluconase, Bromelain, Invertase, Lipase, Protease 4.5, and Serrapeptase as well as B, C and E Vitamins.

To be honest, I was a bit skeptical. Some products can be more hype than help. I wanted to see if this actually made a difference with my recovery or not, so I tried it after a Saturday of Death by Burpees followed by 21-15-9 Wallballs and Kettlebell Swings.

The WOD was a crusher and I was shaking my the end. I popped the top on my Double Awesomeness (it’s a Watermelon-Pomegrante flavor) and was surprised at how good it was. I was even more surprised at how good it made me feel. I waited a few days before trying it again, just wanting to make sure I wasn’t making up the fact that I felt better after drinking it. I tried the other flavor, Tasty, and man was it!

The Tasty is an orange flavor. It was my favorite of the two. I noticed after using it that I did feel better. It helps reduce inflammation and aids the body in the recovery process. It has only 25 mg of caffeine, 15 calories, 3 grams of carbs and no sugar – so not only does it help me recover faster but I don’t have to worry about feeling guilty about drinking it (which usually happens when something tastes so good!) Not only does it taste good, but they DO good too! Their team is made up of several former military members and they support the Navy Seal Foundation and the Wounded Warrior project with parts of the proceeds.

Overall I’m a huge fan of the product and the company. I’m now a former skeptic and will certainly be adding Kill Cliff to my recovery tool kit. You can find it online, at Supplement Superstores, or in most GNC stores nationwide.

Do you have any tricks to help with recovery?
