Coffee Date: Rest Days

Cheers to the freakin’ weekend! Who is ready for a Coffee Date?!

It’s been a long week for me. and I’m tired. So, I’m starting my Friday off with TWO cups of coffee. I had Green Mountain Breakfast Blend followed by Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice. Speaking of Pumpkin Spice… Did you know Sam’s Club sells Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice kcups in an 80 Count package?! Guess who is gonna be stocking up for year round Pumpkin Spice Deliciousness?! THIS GIRL!

If we were having coffee today I would probably start out complaining about how irritating this shoulder injury is. I had my visit with the Chiropractor and he said he thinks it is bicipital impingement. Sounds awesome, right? The good news is that we think we stopped it before it had a change to turn into tendonitis. I have to rest it, ice it and take ibuprofen. So there was no CrossFit for this girl this morning. I actually think I’m going to start going to CrossFit just 3x a week instead of 4-5. It’s just wearing me out to keep getting up that early and leaves me worn out with no time for running. And now that the weather is cool it makes me want to get out and run some more. I want to have a good mileage base come January when it is time to train with Team Living Water for the GO! STL Half Marathon.

Once I finished my rant about my shoulder my coffee would probably be cold, so I would go for a refill while I confessed to you that I am totally rocking third day hair today. Thanks Dry Shampoo! and if nothing else looks good – put a headband in it. It makes the grease look good, I hope (see above picture…)

If we were having coffee I would ramble on about how fast this year has gone and how much I feel like I’ve grown. I feel like I owe a lot of that growth to this blog. When I started my blog in January of 2010 I was getting ready to have my daughter and missed writing. Through writing I’ve been able to really explore my own soul and find what I am passionate about. I’ve shared some of my biggest disappointments like my Marathon DNF and some major life lessons like my struggle with self-sabotage. I have found amazing support and encouragement and been able to inspire others. and through misty eyes I’d tell you that is what makes it worth it to me. In gains and losses, ups and downs, struggles and victories… I’ve thought if I could just inspire one person to change their life for the better… it would all be worth it.

Your turn. If we were having coffee today, what would you tell me?

  1. Sorry about your shoulder injury but also happy that you caught it before it worsened. I’m taking a few days off of work so I would share with you how great it feels to be able to catch up on blogs, write my own posts and just relax with my husband. Happy running to you!

  3. I’d say “I’m sorry you missed CrossFit this morning. I did, too. Between your shoulder and my never-ending headache, we make quite a pair. I really hope I get to meet up with you guys at the end of the month!”

  4. if we had coffee today I would tell you that I’m jealous of your Keurig! 😉

And be glad that your injury hasn’t turned to tendonitis. I’ve had that shiz in my achilles and it sucks.

and no shame on dirty hair. (Dirty hair styles SO much better!) I rock 2nd and 3rd day (and sometimes 4th day) hair ALL the time. 😉

  5. About 5 days a week is how much I’m doing Crossfit. I scale back. I do NOT RX every single time nor do I do intermediate weight all the time. Some days I do the lightest possible. Have you heard of a deload week? Google it. I’ve been doing Crossfit for 2 years and I’m finally getting it. I’m a gym rat. I get it. I like to hang out with my gym buddies. I like to mix it up but your right my body can’t handle high intensity all the time. So I do the crazy thing and scale back. It’s weird at first because most want to RX every time they come in. There is nothing wrong with working on good form all week. As we say “Do it light, Do it right!” Good luck with healing. Listen to your doctor. 🙂

  6. So I have the Go! Race bookmarked. I think I might try to get up there and chear you on. Not ready to commit to running a race yet, I still can’t run a ten minute mile. Maybe by April I’ll be ready for the 5k.

    And, yes, October already?
