What a fun day! We are so proud of Hazel for working so hard all year long AND to Payton for learning a routine because Hazel begged her sis to dance with her in the “Galloping Guardians” part of the show. It’s hard to believe this was Hazels third recital! And she’s already planning next year… Thanks to Formations Dance Center for another wonderful season!

How are you already one whole hand old?! This year has been such an amazing one… you started school (I can’t believe this is your last week!) and have learned SO much. Your curiosity is one of my favorite things about you. I love how your brain works. You can read a few words and are always asking how to spell things. You love to carry your “unlock book” (locking diary) around to write and draw. You have excelled in swimming lessons and have fun at soccer with your friends. You are still the most expressive little dancer and added hip hop and musical theater to your resume this year. You are wildly hilarious and so incredibly smart. We are so proud of you, Hazel Jean. I hope five is your best year yet 🎉🎂🥳🎈😘

Payton, you’re funny, sharp, kind, and quietly strong in ways that keep surprising me. Watching you grow into you has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

Sixteen is weird and wonderful and a little electric. You don’t have to have anything figured out yet. Just keep being exactly who you are. That part is already golden.

Nearly nine years ago, I started applying for grad

Nearly nine years ago, I started applying for graduate school at Webster University during one of the hardest seasons of my life. My marriage ended during my very first term, and honestly, I don’t think I would’ve made it through that season without this program.

The professors and peers I met weren’t just part of my education…they became my lifeline. They encouraged me when I felt lost, reminded me what I was capable of, and helped me start dreaming again.

And now… here I am. Back at Webster. Not as a student this time, but as a professor.

It’s wild how life comes full circle. What began as a step toward survival became the start of a calling. The same classrooms that helped me heal are now where I get to help others grow.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. 💜

A mom's journey through shame, strength, and self-care I woke up at 5:19am, one minute before my alarm was scheduled to go off. I scramble to turn off my alarm before it goes off, hoping to not wake my exhausted husband. I stumble into the bathroom where I laid out my gym clothes. I don't love the early wake ups, but it's the only time I can make it to the gym and I have to prioritize taking care of myself or I'll burnout (more than I already am)....
