I’ve talked about my days in the NJROTC program in high school a few times here on the blog. I loved it. Sure, it was still just high school…. but being involved in the NJROTC program introduced me to so many things I wouldn’t have experienced on my own. I thrived on the structure of the program. I loved the idea of developing discipline and attention to detail. I also loved that this program pushed us to develop a code of ethics not normally taught in High School in areas like Honor, Courage, and Commitment. We took several trips to military bases and had our own mini boot camp like experiences. I even took the ASVAB and looked into joining the service after graduation. Obviously, that didn’t end up happening and I went to bible school instead (where I ended up meeting my lovely husband) but there is still something so alluring about the Armed Services, which is why I jumped at the opportunity to work with the National Guard and FitFluential to tell you about this awesome workout program.
Physical Fitness is an important part of being a soldier. National Guard Soldiers must be always prepared and trained for anything to happen. Just like Clark Kent transforms into MAN OF STEEL™ in the newly released film, members of the National Guard transform from Citizens to Soldiers at moments notice. It takes a lot of motivation and dedication to find that fitness, which is where Mark Twight comes in.
Mark Twight is a Hollywood fitness trainer that helped the cast of MAN OF STEEL™ get in shape for their roles in the film and also helped train National Guard Soldiers to prepare them for their role as well. You can see the whole program, including Henry Cavill’s transformation at SoldierofSteel.com.
The site is super cool and easy to navigate. If you go to the workout tab you can watch videos of the MAN OF STEEL™ Cast going through training, as well as videos of National Guard Soliders completing the workouts. You can also download a PDF of a one-month traning routine developed by celebrity trainer Mark Twight, Watch fitness traning webisodes, and find instructional videos for 23 different exercises included in the training plan. I watched nearly of all of these and got nerdy excited when I saw things like box jumps, bear crawls, air squats, and burpees (Sound familiar anyone?!) This training plan would be a great one to follow for someone new to fitness as a lot of the moves can be modified to fit your fitness level.
Got a fitness question for trainer Mark Twight? On Thursday June 20, Mark Twight will answer fan questions on the @NationalGuard twitter handle. Follow the conversation from 3-4pm EST using the hashtag #TwightTakeover
