Weekly Check In – September Goals

This morning I am enjoying a cup of french press coffee from our new french press we got from IKEA yesterday! It is really good. I actually drank it black! Crazy, right? We took the morning off church to recover from our trip to Chicago for the Pretty Muddy Mud Run. It was SO fun. I can’t wait to share all the pictures/video with you guys after I get them all edited and what not.

Since writing my September goals I have been trying to keep them on the forefront of my mind. I hate setting goals and not reaching them, so I am going to start checking in with you guys on these as well as recapping my weekly workouts. I’m super excited about this because I feel like it will help keep me on track. I encourage you guys to check in with me too! What goals do you have that you want to reach and how can I help you reach them? Let me know!

First lets recap this week’s workouts…

Monday – CrossFit & 2 Mile Run

PreWOD
Back squats 5 x 5
WOD
5 rounds for total combined number of:
1 minute max KB swings 53/35
1 minute max distance row
1 minute rest
Post WOD
EMOM for 5 minutes do:
10 pull ups

So I totally forgot to count my reps on this one, but it was tough! Those 35lb Kettlebell swings killed me. I had nothing left for the Post WOD pull ups. My arms were noodles.

Tuesday- CrossFit

Pre WOD
Take 20 min to find a 1 rep max
for a clean and jerk – I got to 85lbs (my previous 1RM was 65!)
WOD
8 min AMRAP
8 power cleans 115/75
6 push press 115/75
4 front squats ” ”
rest 2 min, then run a 400m sprint

OMG. This WOD was killer. Looking at it written on the board it didn’t look that hard. I started out with 75lbs but had to drop to 65 after the first round. I finished 3 full rounds plus another 8 power cleans and 1 push press. This was seriously tough. But I still left smiling!

Post WOD glow

Wednesday- Rest

Thursday- CrossFit

Pre WOD
Power Snatch 4 x 5
Snatch Balance 4 x 3
WOD
Do all of the following in order for time:
50 DUs (I did 100 singles)
20 Burpees
20 Power snatch 95/65 (I did 55lbs)
20 OHS 95/65 (I did 55lbs)
20 Burpees
50 DUs (I did 100 singles)

Snatch and I have a love hate relationship. It feels so… awkward. I’m working on it. Finished this WOD in 11:59. Glad I had my Zensah compression sleeves, jump ropes kill my calves.

Friday- CrossFit

Pre WOD
Pause front squats 5 x 3 AHAP
WOD
“Jackie”
1000 meter row
45 pound Thruster, 50 reps
30 pull-ups
Post WOD
Paleo chair

I did “Jackie” back on July 31 and had a nearly 15 minute time, but this time I got it in 11:50! YES!

Saturday- Pretty Muddy Mud Run Chicago

This was an EPIC run! Mud, obstacles and a 3.1 mile run! A full recap to come next week (including video from the GoPro!) but for now I’ll show you my “before” and “after” (the after was after I “showered” hahaha)

and now for an update on my goals…

Weight Loss – eek- I’m still hovering 191ish. Gotta get on this next week. Clean up the eating and add more cardio.

Running- Another eek! This past week i’ve been busy catching up after our business trip and just plain tired. My monthly mileage total is 9 miles. Pushing myself in this goal will most likely help in the area of weight loss.

CrossFit- This month my goal was to work on the box jump, and to be honest, I haven’t practiced much at all. Oops.

Reading- Hooray, one I’m doing good on! I read some more of The Happiness Project on our drive to Chicago. I’m loving it so far and can’t wait to write a post about it when I’m done.

Man, I’m glad I decided to check in. I really need to light a fire under my bum to tackle these goals.

How was your workout week? What goals are you working toward this month?
