steep.

Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Matthew 6:33 message

I was doing my bible reading today and this verse really encouraged me. I know we all hear it so many times… “Seek first the kingdome of God and all these things will be added to you.” but hearing it in the message really made it so real to me. First of all it says Steep, which makes me think of tea. When making tea you steep the tea bags in the hot water… you let it sit there and marinate. The longer you let the tea bags steep in the water, the stronger the flavor gets. We are to steep our life in the things of God. Let it marinate. Sometimes the water of life can be hot. uncomfortable. painful. but the more we steep our life in the things of God the stronger the flavor of God we will have in our life.

it goes on to say Don’t worry about missing out. This is a huge message for me. Sometimes I think about everything going on and get discouraged because I feel like I’m missing out. Whether its not going to see Phantom of the Opera live because we couldn’t afford it or not getting the cool clothes or even something as simple as being able to afford the type of groceries you want… It is not going me to do any good sitting there and sulking because I’m missing out on these things now. God promises to meet our everyday human concerns. If he provided manna for the Isrealites, he can and will provide for me. Also in this chapter of Matthew it talks about how God is our father and he knows what we need before we ask. He knows what is best for us.

As long as we continue to “steep” ourselves in the things of God, He will always always always provide.

Thank you Jesus for providing the best for us. Even when we don’t know how things are going to work out, you do. Your thoughts are higher than ours, your ways higher than our ways. Our faith will not be shaken. We know you are lining things up to do something big in our lives and we are so thankful for that. We give you the glory, because only you deserve it.
